I had a 707 for 2 years.
The sounds need editing,it might take a while to get used to this but it's capable doing some weird stuff! (FM-synthesis).
Don't get this if it would be your 1st synth but for adding some nice fx sounds (and bass) this is a machine.
I recommend it if it's in good condition for $125 with manual.

Ive been writing music for a while now, ive had a few records released, Ive used the 707 a long time, ever since they 1st came out,. They are "noisy Fm" which means theres a slight hiss that fades out as the note dies away,... forget strings, there not convincing on this machine..... But for BASS!!!!! Wow, amazing, and you can filter it in real time as Cubase records these CC changes. Its brilliant at these Noises :BASS\GLOCKS\CLAVES\BASS!!! MORE BASS!!\WEIRD EFFECT SOUNDS. TOP KIT FOR TRANCE ,AS RECOMENDED BY JUAN ATKINS.

wow! I got mine for a touch over $100 and can't stop programming the most jaw dropping digital textures! sweet! Easy programming makes for lots of inspiration. What's that about not being able to get low, bassy tones out of the 707? bah! Only two oscillators deprives the 707 of the complexity of a DX7, but programmability more than makes up for it. A great tool for anyone making electronic music, especially for the price. who needs acoustic sounding synths anyway?

Picked up a 707 for @ $150. I think this unit should be evaluated as a real-time instrument, like a trumpet or guitar, not a studio piece, even though it would have usefulness in a studio setting.
The 707 seems at its best filler with unusual sounds, a backup unit, and, because of its light weight and portability, a great unit to use for working out new material while sitting in the recliner. :) It does what I need it to do without being state of the art, and I will probably hang on to it long after changing other units.

I got this beutifull piece (I've got the black) about a year ago and I love it. I only paid 1000 SEK... thats about $100. The presets sucks but if you experiment with it you can get wonderfull noises, basses and blips out of it. I use it mainly for noises and percussive basses. It's perfect in my studio since I have an yamaha an1x (analogue moddeling), roland jv880 (PCM) and Roland MC-303 (groovebox). If you can get one for a good price... BUY IT!
