The two ring-modulators and the pink and white noises, the four OSCs and the two "traveler"-filters as same as the ability to play it in stereo are so big reasons for me to never ever sell this beast. The filters really kick ass and the ring-mods are versatile like nothing I've ever heard before: in unison they can either sound bell-like, then again robotic and they provide really cool repetitive lead sounds when configured correctly with a mix of pulse- and sawtooth-waveforms. It is so cool how often this machine surprises me with new sounds. And beside of the cool retro features it has just pure power! It is simply one of my all-time-favourites!

"Maxi-korg" is a highly unique synth like KORG synths were in the early days. It has it's own sound. Super-fat and pleasantly dirty. Just brilliant for weird solos or basses. The feature I like the most is the possibility to play two different sounds at once (=duophonic) and there are individual outs for both sounds. Super-cool. I could play a nice droning sound on one section, and a soloing kind of sound on the other section. Then send them both to separate effects. These kind of combinations make me wanna jump for joy! It's easy to base your whole tune around the ideas you come up with the Maxi-korg! It definately is different from MS-20. MS-20 is available in the virtual world but no soft synth has yet to come close to the unique sound of mini/maxi-korgs.

I have now owned BOTH of my MAXIKORGS for 2 years. I also own a sequential circuits PRO ONE,a YAMHA CS-15 and a Sequential circuits SIX TRAK. If I could, I would buy at least 4 more MAIXKORGS. I cannot believe how fu*&*&%%^&king AWESOME this hybrid Keyboard-Synthesizer is.It is my FAVORITE SYNTH of all time. These other users are NOT exagerating!

Wish I could have kept it. It sounds great, especially with bass sounds. Great piece if you don't need midi or cv control. It's easy to use and also makes some nice noisy percussion sounds. Come to think of it, it made some interesting flute-type sounds.

First what I did is to upgrade the synth with CV/Gate that I can use it in my studio together with my notron sequencer. Till now I mostly do bass-sounds with it, moving the traveler left and right during recording it. Sounds really warm and analogue. I like the maxi korg but I have to learn to bring out more other sounds.
