Purchased it summer '97. Love it very much. Very fat lead sounds - it sounds
almost like a good old moog... also very good hammond sounds. I only miss piano
sounds - the DW8000 is weak in piano patches.

I remember saving every penny I made from mowing lawns so I could buy the DW8000 ($1000 in '86). It was a wonderful synth. Very fat and robust for a digital (ok, some might argue it is part analog but I still think of it as a digital synth). It made a great companion to my Poly800, and it is identical in the way you program it (Except the DW had a data entry slider which was far easier than the poly's up/down buttons) and like the Poly had the parameter chart printed on it which made it a breeze to program. I miss mine as I stupidly sold it along with my Poly800 and Jupiter 6(!) for a Korg M1 when they were all the rage in '89. Nothing against the M1 as it's been and still is a great synth, but geez, what a bonehead I was. By the way I still have many data cassette copies of the sounds I programmed for it. I used to sell these sounds through the classifieds of Keyboard Magazine. If anyone is interested in a tape then give me an email. PS the info on the main page for the DW states it was released in 1984. This is incorrect. I am almost positive it was released in '86, although my manual(I still have the manual but not the synth!?!) was printed in '85. However, it could have been December 31, 1985 or something goofy like that.

The Korg DW-8000 is very cool....the arpeggiator is very nice and it sounds like no other synth i've ever heard (exception of its relatives EX8000 and DW6000 etc) well anyway.....the joystick is better than a wheel (pitch bend or modulation) ....if you dont have it then you should probly buy it ....great for strings and pads....and effects.....organ is top...!!!!!!!
