great little box of sounds, all you have to do is spend a little time with this machine and you can create some outstanding bass lines or melodies. My first synth, so naturally i'm impressed but i know it has limitations. Overall great tweak box.

I am loving this machine. I know it's not the 303 but for the price its a great emulator. Since I'm on a budget I'm not gonna pay up to $900 for a 303. I think the EA has more features that are very useful. The sequencer is easy the filters and effects are really good. The only thing i wish it had on it was a part mute. Would be very useful to mute a part while im playing live. Another thing I would like to see on it is a footswitch control input. Overall its a great machine I get a lot of use from it.

This box kicks some ass for its price. Ive read previous reviews and its amazing what people expect out of something that only costs $250. There is nothing, absolutely NOTHING in this price range that compares to the EA-1. The step sequencer is great, and the sounds are unique. You can hear a similarity in all Korg virtual analog machines (Z1-Prophecy-EA1) they are all based on the same tecnology. Whats wrong with that? I also own a prophecy and I would love to get a Z1. They can all be tweaked to sound WAY different. I dont use the FX on the EA1, use an outboard FX processor like a TC D2 or a LEX MPX1. The gate is an added feature that rocks ! Once again I find it hard to understand why people bitch about the EA1...when nothing else sounds as good and has pretty cool features at the same time for its price!

after using this machine for over a year i must admit, it gets old. the sound is basically the standard + standard analog model from the prophecy (which i also own) along with some of modulation options thrown in (ring, sync, and decimator) and dedicated controls. i will say that the distortion/overdrive on the EA is much better than the distortion on the prophecy. however, the lack of LFO (let alone LFOs) is annoying, although you can use the chorus as a kind of pseudo-LFO. the recordable knob movement is a plus, i like that you are further able to choose the movements to be played back smoothly (as it was recorded), or to jump between values as they correspond to each step. the audio input is pretty good, you can use the sequencer as a noise gate on audio to really chop up sounds, the filter seems weaker on audio input however, the delay and chorus can help dry input as well. while it has some nice features for a little box, the sound is very basic VA. as a sequencer it is the best of the electribe series, it allows note value and gate per step (where the ER and ES only allow a specific noise to carry a specific MIDI note value) and can do transposing +/- 2 octaves. i currently no longer use the EA for it's sounds, but use it to sequence the ms-2000 using the 2 parts on the EA to sequence the two timbres on the MS. in the end i give it a 3, useful sequencer, simple sound.

Perfecto para trance, two step, happy tecno, electro.
