This thing is a joke!. When I got mine, it diden't have any sounds or buttons on it, where was the tubes?, sequencer?, just looks like a square shaped box to me. Then I relised i was talking about the packaging box it came in :P!, took away the cardboard box and there it was, duh @ me lol. The korg emx-1 is a serious kick ass hard bit of gear for producing the latest styles. This box has it all. Its just amazing!. If you want endless creation and profession, get this. Its just awesome, never used anything like it. Phatt, warm, kickass. 2 WORDS! KORG EMX1!, i prefer this to my girl friend ;)

picked it up about a week ago and must say that it is completely impressive sounds very analog at times and can sound very digital as well coming from someone who has extensively used alot of pro roland and waldorf gear it's a really great box you have to take the time to program sounds which im assuming all the people complaining about the crappy sound are not perfect sequencing couldnt ask for more straightforward setup totally fat pcm samples as compared to any all in one box there is no comparison to the ravolution mc505 or any similar box i've used. this along with the sx sampler and youve got a wicked studio at a fraction of the cost it would of cost you to set up 5 years ago extreme props go out to korg what a wicked valu at 950$ canadian

Actually, you should use SMOOTH motion sequencing instead of TRIG HOLD if you are editing a single sustained note. Sorry about the mistake!

In response to your question about motion sequencing the chord oscillator, it is definitely possible to create a chord progression using a single part by manually assigning OSC EDIT 1's value for each step of a pattern. First, turn on motion sequencing for the part you are using (I usually use TRIG HOLD for chord progressions, but I don't think it really makes a difference), and press the record button. Now that the play button is flashing and the record button is lit, press play and twist OSC EDIT 1's knob for a second, and then press stop. Now OSC EDIT 1 is available in the MOTION DEST section of the STEP EDIT menu. Press the STEP EDIT button twice and you will now see "OscEd1" on the screen. Press the down button to go to the MOTION VALUE section of the STEP EDIT menu, and you will be able to assign a chord type for whatever step you have selected by turning the main control knob (the one you use to change patterns). You can manually edit any motion sequence this way (select which motion sequence you want to change by turning the main control knob in the MOTION DEST section of the STEP EDIT menu), and I highly recommend experimenting with this feature. You can use this technique as a kind of envelope generator, and you can always make sure your repeated motion sequences are the same throughout the pattern.

Thought I would post my reivew here since this page seems to have allot of users of the electribe mx here.

Great value for the money, I bought this for use as a drum machine but it does so much more! and it does it well! Sound build is great, but none of the acoustic piano samples really impressed me that much. (they suK) Most of the drum samples are very usable and sound great, Korg for sure put there money where there mouth was with the samples. The synth in this thing is really great at getting very odd type electronic stuff, and can sound really gritty when used right! The best "sine" I have heard from a machine in this range. All in all a great machine for the price. It has been working double time in the studio every day since I bought it and I have not had any problems from it whatsoever! A five out of 5
