by the way the person in here who posted with the obsence language does not know what he is talking about. The emx-1 is the only electribe model with 5 syth parts and 9 drum parts. and the new electribes only of 64 steps per pattern where the EMX-1 offers 128! Plus they don't have the tubes on them! I know that they are not some really nice expensive tubes, but the fact is when you use them you do get a warmer signal out of them, turn it up a little but more and get some distortain out of it.

The emx-1 is great! it is still the best of the electribe series, and by far the most complete stand alone sequener electribe model. The two new electribes are not meant to be a stand alone sequencer like this is. They are for drums and bass sounds only, The Emx-1 is really the best in my opinion. Even if it does cost a bit more than the two new electribes!

Just for the record, LFO can be applied to drum parts, and you can get some very interesting sounds by doing this. Also, if you route a solid tone from synth part one through individual out 1 or 2, plug this same line into the audio in port, and set part two as a continuous note of AUDIO IN +COMB you can use two different LFOs on the same tone.

What? Anyways, Love the new EMX1! It sounds great! Some of the effects are in Mono but thats the only draw back so far that I can see. The last reviewer stated that it is not a synth, But it is! This is a hybrid synth engine using two of Korgs famous syths. Ever hear of the Korg Z1? or MS20000? Even though it does not have tons and tons of knobs like a Nord lead Or Waldorf Etc you can really make your own sounds up as you go along. It is not meant to have tons of knobs but to give you the basic tools for sound design So that you can pick it up and just begin! Even though it does not have a ADSR fiter it has a "EG Intial" that sweeps between two diffrent types of ADSR, a feature that some other more powerful synths can only do with allot of programming or can't do at all. If you see these as draw backs then maybe its not for you. But for a groove box it rocks.

Integrated music production studio? No, is only a groovebox for make great electronic pattern music, probably is a best groovebox in the market, because don't is a workstation widthout keyboard same at roland mc-909, is only a great machine for make dance, drum&bass, tecno, ambient, ecc... have some limit ( monophonic synth parts, limited envelope edit, simple editable fx and sound parameter), but this limit is a good think! I have played those box for some time ( i have one ex-demo for selling), and is fun and the result is good, ok, is not a real synth, is not a real analog modeling drumsynth (only sampled drum, but tou can generate drum in synth part!), but if you wont use it for a live session is very cool... Hear the demos or play it for few time... i don't like a groovebox but i like this groovebox...
