Ahhhhh, the Kaoss pad. I unit designed for PROSUMERS, yet taken up by all. First KID 606, then Radiohead, Shadow/Chemist, etc. etc....
Will it help you write songs...eh, it will help you make them a bit more interesting. I definetely used it to high hell on a recent remix.
Noisey? Hells Yeah. Add Significant signal loss and distortion. Oh, and it does this weird thing with the stereo range....as in the effects themselves have rather extreme bussing capabilities....at the same time, when you aren't running the effects anything you run into the device..well, it's hard to explain...
It basicly cuts off the farthest left and right frequencies. This is a fact, tried and tested by myself as well as my peers.
Is it a problem?...well, yeah, and it exists on all the Kaoss Mixers as well.
Whatever, I just find ways to deal with it.
Honestly, I got one when it came out, and never actually used it until last week. Of course, now I know what I've been missing, best not to get too carried away though. And watch out for those damned problems....it was cute on those Roland entry level gadgets (sp-202) a few years back, but damn, with the popularity of this lil' guy, hopefully Korg will professionalize it already.
