Most of the people who hate the microkorg seem to fall into two groups. The first group consists of analog snobs who hate all VA's. While the second group seems to be made up of mongoloids who are only capable of writing in broken "Engrish". The MK aliases, the filter is harsh and digital, theres only 4 notes of polyphony, but despite this I love it.

I'm well aware that many digital analog hybrids go for around the same price and sound warmer and more "analog", but please also take into account that I don't want to deal with dying internal batteries, dying voice chips, and maintenance bills.

The microkorg has one of the best streamlined editing matrix's I've ever used and in my opinion its only rivaled by the esq-1 and sq-80 in this regard. Sound wise Korg has produced a fun easy to use little synth thats great for both bass and a variety of digital noises; not to mention the inclusion of a great sounding vox. Seriously how many god damn trolls are there on sonicstate, I've yet to read an objective and honest review that spoke negatively of a VA.

this is a great little keyboard not a cheap toy for poor people like some of you have said

i saw metric perform using this keyboard and i know for a fact that other bands like royksopp and the album leaf use it

there are some great sounds and features that you wouldn't expect from a mini keyboard like this

it might be a little bit limited as a primary instrument but as a secondary keyboard it is great

i have had mine for almost 4 years and i still love playing it

Microkorg is an expanded version of electribe A and not more. This means frustrating days and nights with no result end up in alkohol and drugs.

Don't buy it

Jim a hobbyist user from Greece writes:
What this thing excels at is sound quality. Especiall the bass is very good and it is more analog than va. I have not kept it even a year and now I have just sold it for 270 euros. I bought it 500 euros.

The keys is not a real problem , people complaining for nothing.

The matrix - style editing is pretty common , for these kind of portable synths.

The presets are from nonsense to mediocre.

The amount of feature is really very impressive, it can do FM, sync , vocoder , etc.

The bigest minus for me is is the lack of Timbres and polyphony . At the same price but with no keyboard a Waldorf MicroQ can do 25 polyphony and 16 timbres , MicroKorg can do only 2 timbres and 4 polyphony. Very very low . As a result this synth is a BIG NO for pads and acoustical or complex sounds and sound effects. But in simple sounds it really excels. The sound quality is very good it just does not have the horsepower for an all around synth .

Another big plus is that it can run on batteries and that it is very very light 3Kg. In portability MicroKorg is truely amazing.

Sadly the horsepower is very low , goodbye MicroKorg. I hope the next guy appreciate you more than me.

Jamiroquiet will better be quiet. He probably doesn't know bands such as Röyksopp use this toy. It just about what you do with it. To me it's fabulous.
