Anyone giving this wonderful little instrument less than four stars is cruel and sadistic. Let's put things in perspective: for something this small, at this low of a price, the Microkorg is FREAKING AMAZING!!!! I never would have imagined that I would see the when something not that much bigger than a child's first Casio keyboard could produce sounds that rival that of any top-of-the line, professional synth. Yes, the keys are small, the polyphony is limited, etc., etc., but do you really think that this was designed as a pro's primary synth? With all of this taken into consideration, the fact remains that the pros vastly outweigh the cons. If you haven't played one yet, go to your local Guitar Center or wherever and see for yourself what an incredible bargin this is!

this small cheap useless Toy is made for stupid idiots who can not play and program a real synth. The sound has big aliasing-problem and is very limited. all the other VA's like Novation,Waldorf and Nord are better.

Yo. I'm going to buy a micro. Yes, I'm blind and so alittle afraid of the editing matrix, but the vocoder, my sweet vocoder... Anyway i will buy that bastard! And the sound examples i've herd are also good: sound is clear and quite fat, even Roland's sh201 does not sound good enough in some case. So i'm waiting for my microbaby. Ahh, almost forgot, the price is also really nice.

this is not a professional synth. it is very limited compared to another stuffs like Novations and Nordleads.the alliasing and clicks on the sounds of this Korg are horrible. No PW and PWM on the second osc. So what can we learn? This is the worst Korg-device ever !

Matt Simpson a part-time user from US writes:
Basically if you havnt figured it out by now, this is a wolf in sheeps clothing. Yes its a mini MS 2000 only with less buttons and nobs. It has all the same capabilities as its bigger sibling too.

There are a few cons though. For one, if you have an MS 2000 you will probbaly only be able to expect four note polyphony at max from this as well. I strongly recomend keeping the owner's manual, seeing as even I have to continuously refer back to it to decypher the cryptic display it has on it. Not to mention the fact that with less nobs but same capabilities, you have to somtimes backtrack to edit sounds on it.

Even with these turn off's its notenough to bring down this little beast. Its got the same powerful engine as its big brother. Its not as expensive as it sounds. Its extremely portable, and runs off batteries so you can play on the go anywhere. You can make some fat sounds. Some of the factory presents are actually good. It has a great apegiator. Two timbres for a fusion of sound at once. Theres also the vocorder.

Once you get the hang of it, you can create some really cool stuff.

Though its a nice little peice of equipment, dont use it for shows as teh main board. I would use it as an auxillery synth along side a few others but then again if your a real synth artist then youd have more then one peice of equipment when you gig. Now as for myself I have made so much use of it. Even though emulating acoustics was hard, its possible. I made a acoustic guitar sound that actually sounds very close to a real one. As for a piano, I havnt been able to... just with it by itself. Iv came close, but I cant perfect it. But I came with the idea to hook it up, via midi cable, to an old Optimus keyboard I got for real cheap at radioshack from back in the day of my learning to play keys. The choppiness of the optimus combined with the sustain of the little korg created a sweet tone! And actually the little microkorg saved teh optimus from collecting dust for the rest of it's days. I even used it in a few shows.

Anyway, the sum it up in a nutshell before I get carried away, the microkorg is worth an investment. I mean, you'll see the prodigy playing one, and even a bunch of other big named artists. And as said before makes a great peice to carry around with you and show off to your friends. And when I dont have it linked up to the optimus I use it for synth solos and it actually turns heads away from the guitarist for a second lol.
