The Microkorg is brilliant for people who are in powerpop bands! brings out some funky sounds...plus if you connect your microkorg to the pc via MIDI too USB...then your gna have some fun making alot more sounds. you can download some cool sounds aswell off the internet for the microkorg (only if you have a MIDI to USB connection). Id reccomend this if you are a beginner looking for a affordable synth. once you get the hang of it, you will be laughing!

Look, I bought this thing, thinking I had made a mistake. Thinking I should have bought the more "professional" Alesis Micron. I had already owned the Novation Xiosynth, but feared it would fall apart if I breathed on it (not to mention the fact that it has no MIDI unless connected to a computer). So I quickly sold the MK and purchased a Micron (on Ebay, of course). What a mistake!!! The Micron has drum sounds, that's true, but they're horrible (I'll stick to my sampler for drums, thank you). The sequencer is awful, awful, awful. The layout of the Micron, with all of it's "superior" functions is the complete polar opposite of anything that anyone could ever consider inspiring (in regards to creating music, that is). The Microkorg, on the other hand, is just plain fun. It sounds great (if you want vintage analog, sell a kidney and buy one), the vocoder rocks, and the layout is bonehead simple. Long live the Microkorg!!!

Blimey, I'm suprised to read crappy reviews over this little synth!

I currently use this synth together with Kurzweils / Roland Fantom/JX-8P/SH101 and Expanded Triton and it holds up its own place in the mix! Brilliant low cost synth, comes through excellent with good control over MIDI.

I bought it originally in 2005 for the Vocoder, but have yet got round to using at as I'm still having fun putting this unit through its paces!!

Great purchase!

All of the recent 1 star reviews sound like they are written by the same person. They all use the same bad punctuation/grammar, use the same insults towards the MicroKorg and its users, and recommend the same Novation and Nord synths instead. This guy's obviously nursing a serious grudge against this synth.

Anyway, I enjoy it a lot. Good sounds at a great price.

You can see MK on some stages and TV since many years. I don't want to compare it with other synths but for me MK was not helpful in my mix.it was a desaster! So i brought it back to the store and now i am happy with my AN1X, Microwave2,Novation K-Station and ... God bless you
