The Micro Korg synthesizer is exactly what I needed. Knobs and full control over all my sound in real time. I can't wait to master all of it's knowledge. A beautiful adaptation to my existence. Thankyou Korg

I BOUGHT THE MICRO LAST SUMMER AND HAVE NO COMPLAINTS. AS FAR AS THE VOCODER GOES, YOU CAN ADJUST THE LEVEL, SO YOU CAN MAKE OUT LYRICS. THE PRESETS ARE HALFWAY CHEESY, BUT GREAT FOR ME CAUSE I'M INTO THAT SORT OF STUFF(i'm also into bondage.if anybody's with me on that give me a woot!woot!)ANYWAYS, DON'T PLAY THE EVER SO TYPICAL ELECTRONIC MUSIC LIKE EVERY OTHER DROID ON HERE, BUT IT MAKES NICE FOR SOME HARDCORE LICKS. I GIVE THIS BABY A 5 OUT AFORE MENTIONED NUMBER.

I'm owning a microkorg since summer and think it's a really nice peace of gear. I bouth i originally for performance use (since it's small and easy to carry around), but now I'm using it in almost every song. It sounds nice and once you get a hang of the sound making process it's also easy making sounds.

The presets sucks really hard and is reminding of some really cheezy rave/goa trance stuff from the mid nineties, but once you get rid of the presets you don't need to suffer from them anymore.

Also, the vocoder sucks big time. You can make vocoder vocals with it, but don't expect to hear a single vord of the lyrics. :) Sound like you're singing closed mouth.

However, it's easy to carry around, sounds nice (it's not like older and fatter analog stuff, but it's totaly ok. I won't use the Microkorg when I want a really fat sound), and is really flexible and usefull in many situations. Nice!

Rob a part-time user from USA writes:
I have had the microKORG for about 6 months. It's a really hip instrument. The sounds that come out of it are incredible. I love being able to customize the sounds and do it on the fly. The size is amazing, it looks really neat too. I love the wood paneling. PLus, a built in vocoder? Manm that was enough for me to buy it! I use this on top of my Alesis QS8.1 and people seem to love the sounds of the microKORG. I would not recommend this instrument as a primary instrument- only as a solo device. Maybe a primary instrument for people doing electronic or dance...

There are always things to improve on instruments. some things I would have liked if they were different-

1. the knobs are difficult to change in the middle of the song (the ones at the top are fine, just the other nobs are difficult. 2. The computer program is awesome, but doesnt allow for altering sounds mid-song. That is a bummer and would be a huge improvement if there is a way to fix that. 3. Not enough piano/melodic sounds. I know that is not what this is meant for. But, just 5-10 more would make this a lot better 4. The microKORG bag is seriously flawed. There are 2 parts of the bag- the inner case and the bag. The inner case does not fit the way that it should. It ends up covering up part of the back of the instrument where the inputs are. This is really sloppy! I emailed korg about it, faxed them my receipt. They sent me a new bag. Guess what? Same crappy construction. Mine was not an anomaly. I still use it because its the perfect size for my microKORG and it does say microKORG on the bag. Which makes it hit. The outer bag is okay. 5. You should be able to play more notes at a time.

I hope Korg comes out with a MicroKORG II that fixes some of these issues.

If you want an instrument ONLY for the studio. Do not get this instrument. Get the MS2000. But, if you play around, have limited space, want something that you can bring to a friends place, take on the train, etc. then GET THIS.

It's important to know the pluses as well as the minuses about this instrument BEFORE purchasing. Overall, it is the coolest piece of gear that I have. Audiences love it. Your girlfriend will love it. My friend got one of these and I immediately fell in love with it and bought it. The price is right. The size is right. It is all around a great buy. This is sure to become a classic.
