OKay, well i guess i jumped on the wagon a little late but i got a microKorg just recently and i have to say that this machine is simply fascinating. I have owned many synths and this one blows them all out of the water. What else would we expect from Korg. I know the Ms2000 is just as great but this tiny synth is about 1/4th the size and does practically the same exact stuff. Yeah, the music genres labeled on the program knob are pretty cheesy but the sounds are AMAZING and it completely makes up for the ego blow. I rate the sound quality at 10...at least. Yes, i have my gripes. The key size is fine...it says mini and you get mini but the build quality could have been better. In fact, i love the keys and wouldnt want bigger ones. If that was the case i would have bought the MS2000...but i wanted a nice control synth with pro features inside....not taking up room outside. Anyway, if you are considering buying this keyboard....i reccomend it COMPLETELY and in fact would suggest no other at this time. At $399 this thing should have cost twice as much. I almost feel guilty.

This synth is one-of-a-kind! Great sounding portable synth that you can use on the bus, train, or plane.

Don't let the size or mini-keys throw you, this things is everything you could want from a professional synth.

If the small keys bother you, and you don't mind giving up the portability, get a MS-2000, same synth, larger keys.

ok guys! Back to the MicroKorg. I just bought one and I must say its everything good that I have heard about and much much more. The smallness is so cool. Last night I was enjoying working up some tunes late at night in bed right up until I was ready to fall asleep. I woke up and there was the Microkorg calling me to play some more. This little board is one that I will have to keep. My only gripe is that they should have made it with tighter more solid feeling knobs, but its still awesome.

Yep, it's about the hardware. Something cool about the mini keys, knobs and editing layout. Having it run on batteries, all you need is it and a pair of head phones when lounging around. I've played the thing on airplanes, the hotel, and so on. Perfect portable synth. You can hook something up with a laptop and midi controller, but if you want one simple complete compact package, the MicroKorg is awesome. Also, it shouldn't be an either or thing.
