Only piano sound is bad, but "e.p., rhodes and.." other piano sounds are very good. im added bit phase or rotary, pan effect.. very very pleasure, play them. Strings and Brass sounds are class II BECAUSE class I strings and brass sounds, real strings and brasses ; all of them incredible, but arpeggio is not use both of pattern(generally drums ;/ ) and and and im regret; there is not portamento on this machines... I wish using portamento, because we are made of progressive metal... nevermend I love this machine

A very good real time performing instrument. I don't think that it's the workstation tool for a studio. I like the natural sounds such as pianos and strings. Bad keys (I prefer the m1 or triton keys)

as far as building ambient atmospheres or alien soundscapes goes, not many synths compare to what is hidden away in the combination banks on the n364, and all the users of this unit know .exactly. what i'm talking about. if you're looking for something with thick bass or lots of effects, this is not the unit for you, but if you've got the extra cash and are looking for something to add spacious and/or eefie depths to your mix, i'd highly recommend checking this synth out.

Good all around keyboard, but just a little slow to use. Lot's of sounds and for the most part good sounding sounds especially considering the year it came out (1995?). I dont think it would be fair to compare it to modern keyboards like the triton and motiff which are the best out right now in my opinion. Simply because they're more new and are the result of fine tuning the technology in previous boards like this one. I compose music in both the hip hop and r&b genres and it's worked for me. I didn't have to pay for it simply because it was given to me to work on an album as part of my pay. However I'v checked on ebay and seen that it goes for around 700 dollars in good condition and that's what I factor into my rating for this board. I know how to use a wide range of beat making equipment including the tritons, mpcs (haven't used the 4000 yet)a handful of yamaha boards (my least favorite except for the motif)and a couple of computer programs. In the end the more expensive pieces give you more otions and make things a little easier once you learn them, but how good compositions turn out mostly depends on the user. You can definately put something hot down with this board, which I have done quite a few times. My main complaint is the amount of time it takes to sequence a beat on this thing, you can sequence a song just about any way you want but prepare to be at your board for quite some time. I can lay down the basic beat I want in ten minutes but then spend an hour mixing the beat. This why I dont give it a five out of five for it's price because once you know how long it takes to mix a beat it actually discourages you from laying more tracks down. A computer sequencer like acid is reccommended, but this thing is packed with alot of featuresand is great for someone on a budget. peace
