Very interesting synth, the interface could be better for sure but it's far from terreible in my opinion. Anybody on a budget interested in the SCI VS should definately check this out. It has all the original waves of the VS then some, plus wave sequencing and other additions, but no analog filter, arpeggiator or aliasing etc. I definately prefer the VS sound and it's character, but this synth is an excellent value and sounds great, and is similar in many aspects. To bad no LFO panning or resonance though. Built well, very unique, a great addition to a good subractive synth and nice to have for more eccentric experimentation, something different. For $350 it's the best value this side of a K2000 after the recent price drops second hand. My 2 cents.

A Very special instrument for very special purpose, but talking about digital synths, I´d marry this one :-) After taking some time it is an easy programmable Synth which offers you uncountable possibilities. Maybe the lack of resonant filters is a point to critisise, but the possibillities offered by this awesome machine (is it a machine? - I think this one lives!) are able to produce a fat grin on your face. Another point to mention is the warm and thick output, which demonstrates that this synth is everything but a toy! In my opinion the best digital Synthesizer which fascinates me for 15 years now! Was the best, is the best and will be the best forever! An All- Time- Keeper!!!

Tamryn Thomas a professional user from S. Wales writes:
Not a Prophet VS, but, nonetheless, a nice instrument to have about. Not the easiest synth to work with. The sounds are spacey. A pad machine. Leads are lost in rompler world. Wish it had a resonant filter. Really reliable and well built like most korgs. Like a lot of vector stuff, most of the sounds don't belong in popular music but rather in film soundtracks etc. I've had several lovely sounds which I have struggled to incorporate into a track. Same, to an extent, with the VS. Its Curtis chip filter does provide you with more sound creation possibilities and scope. Of course, they do cost a lot more to buy and maintain. I'd recommend a wavestation if you are into ethereal, trace type stuff. Not for beginners. In depth editing is a bind, even with a pc programmer.

Sheldon Mah a part-time user from USA writes:
Ive owned the EX since new and from listening to the original wavestation concept from the prophet VS to the first USA demo at NAMM 91, I was sold on its unique sound and after seeing more than 44 pro instruments come and go out of my rig, the EX still has a permanant place. This vector synthesizer is a players synth limited only by the finite number of voices, creates a texture and ambience thats strong, bold, sexy and classy..keyboard begs to be carassed, moved, played with, dwelled on, toyed with ....just like a true classic perfectly proportioned lady...top marks for a timeless instrument! The only maintenence issue has been the CR2036 backup battery replacement and the infamous dying backlight on the Optrex display. Fine support group on the web. One of the all time best! Highest recommendation...
