Iv'e had the x-3 since spring 96,bought it for $800.Iv'e composed/hacked over 100 pieces of(finished) music of all styles on my x-3 and just began to have problems after 5 years of heavy use.I need more memory, sound sources, effects and sampling to move in a new direction, but 5 years of trouble free use is pretty damb good.I'm pretty attached and will keep the 3,i would recommend picking one up used as an all around good value in a sequencer.I especially had fun creating new ways to use the x-3 over time (hacking as not intended)i found the inevitable limitations fun and challenging to work within,in a time of brand name/gear elitism/snobery i feel you can create original work with any piece of gear regardless, expectations are a bitch! It's hard to find a better value than a used x-3.would like to hear from other slightly out of trend x-3 users for coorespondence.

I bought my X3 used in 1999, and couldn't be happier with it. Slight problems necessitated re-soldering of the main audio outputs and cleaning the key contact board, but other than that, this synth has been rock-solid.

I mainly compose New Age music, for which the X3 is one of the best-suited synths I've used. The textured, layered pads in the preset PCG file, on Korg's accessory sound disks, and those available on the internet for download are top-notch, and the effects are excellent. I like the light but springy keyboard action, and the sequencer couldn't be much easier to use. All in all, a professional-quality instrument.

I have my X3 for about six years. This unit is a workhorse once you know how to work with it properly. You can hear some of our music at our site @ http://www.smprecords.com all the music arrangements were on the Korgx3. We have other Synth's but the X3 is our main one.

Man I just purchased my x3, for 300, a steal I thought to be, It was, Yeah what some of the users say about the memory is true, the keyboards reacts terribly when youre down in single digit memory, so keep lots of disks if you make many patterns, Aside from that, I work on a triton at my recording studio, but for three hundred, the korg in my house is the best thing that ever happened....
