I just purchased an X3 and I feel it is a darn good synth. KORG is unique untoo it self for the sounds it has. Although I still beleave in the true "SYNTHS " like the D-50, this board can rock.

1. Drum sounds are outstanding for a " synth" 2. piano sounds? unless it weighs 1000 pounds and is 8 feet long, their good for me. 3. spaceious waves are the best I have herd in a long time( JD-800 not included ) 4. for the price, well you decide!

For my first keyboard workstation, the X3 was great. After using it for over 2 years, I can say that the internal sequencer is EXCELLENT. The acoustic sounds, though, are BAD. The drum kit is INADEQUATE but usable. The editing is VERY GOOD on the sounds. The keyboard's disk drive is great. For the price, it was a good buy, and I supplement the lack of good sounds with an Alesis Nanopiano and DM5.

Pianos/Guitars: POOR Organs: GOOD Drums: OK to POOR Strings: GOOD Strange Sounds: GOOD TO EXCELLENT Bass: OK to VERY GOOD

A good start in sequencing and sound synthesising. I love the control it gives over the dry/wet effect level for each track. Hardly expandable, mmm, I miss some sampling capacity here,...I own a X3 since 1993, to achieve good results it requires a lot of neat and hard work. Very badly documented. I totaly beleive in the Korg X3. The key action is great, and the weight is another good factor. The sounds are pretty good too. I have started to look for new keyboard but I am still very happy with my X3.

well after using the unit for 3 years i can say the following: 1)if you are korg lover the n364 is a better recommendation for you.

2)no expansion ex or other type of it.

3)sounds real poor especially the piano sounds on it unlike the x2.

but don't forget that the x2 has 8mb while the x3 has 6mb.

i mean 341 samples on the x2 and 340 on the x3.

4)insufficiant output connectors, it needs at least 4.

5)pcm cards are impossible to get.

6)to end this: real poor instrument, the o1/w is better machine. because of the wave shaping which is no longer avaible for these synths

i don't like the new ones, beginning from the x3.

in two words: i hate it!!! i want to be fare but no can do!!!
