nice sound module... it has all things that you can dream...not for dance music or things like techno, but has variety of sounds and you can made your own sound as you wish, only thing that i don't like is the drum kits, because are the general midi drums, but...for price i only can say that's perfect!

I originally bought this module for a GM sound source. IT works great for this. and accurately reproduces most GM sequences. I found the effects to be good, As a single channel sound source, this unit is adequate. The sounds, although not as fat as the more expensive Korgs, work in a variety of situations. Guitars were good when used with the "canned" effects. The pianos are very weak, although there are a few good electric piano sounds. The alto sax is outstanding. Organs were OK. The drums were real nice. The Toms are fat and resonant. The cymbals are a little too compressed sounding though. All in all the unit performs great for the price. I find it much more useful than the Emu Proteus boxes.

A beautiful sounding synth module. It contains most of the features available in
basic digital synthesizers. I also own a Clavia Nord Lead synthesizer and what I
find so neat about the X5DR is its ability to respond to most of the realtime
parameter changes that the Nord can transmit over midi.
