I have used the X-911 for a variety of purposes from the bizarre to the ordinary (re: everything from guitars, vox, sax, etc. to false tracking of samples to produce a "chaos-yet-synched" effect in SHRiNe, the electronic performance group I am in. I find it to be quite versatile. With dilligent practice, the tracking can be mastered more efficiently then many other "plug-and-play" analog synths of this and earlier vintages, including the early Roland models. The tracking is also nearly instantaneous due to the lack of processing necessary(No midi, nopolyphony). I am often dissapointed by the lack of sustain, but hope to change this with a footpedal I am building. Use of constant signal with level envelope (re: an RCA tone generator) produced constant triggering with zero cutoff (the lack of envelope would simply keep the osc's on). It s voicing is very sonorous, and is especially handy as an extra voice to accompany another synth or instrument. DO NOT BUY THESE. THEY SUCK. YOU ARE NOT WORTHY. GIVE YOUR X-911's to me!!! I seek other Korg products to interface, and most especially the Mic stand adaptor for the base, and perhaps an original footswitch bay.
