An acquaintance has been kind enough to make my .pdf of the user's manual available as a download on his website. For your convenience, I've posted a link to it on the main page for the DS-8.

As for my DS-8, it was recently the victim of my temper, and is now landfill.

Nice Rhodes electric piano, tinkley, warm and sounds rich. With other sounds, nice warm ambiences can be created with editing and applying tons of delay and stuff. The organs are great when put through an actual rotary speaker - almost as good as the real thing! And for multitrack recording, the "solo voice" detune setting for strings sounds like "Quartett" is fantastic! Very warm. As a stand alone synth, however, there's not much to say...

I am perhaps one of the few who really love the DS-8. Presets are OK, but can really be enhanced by programming which is amazingly easy. If you are enamored of 80s "new wave" it is a great lead tool.

The manual is still available, but I am no longer at the address.

I have the manual in .pdf format. It's 11.7Mb, so if you want it, you need a large mailbox. Over the last year, I've tried to send it to about 12 people, none of whom had mailbox capacity for it.

For now, e-mail requests to [email protected], with DS-8 Manual Request as the subject line. If it doesn't look like a relevent message, I will treat it as spam - i.e. I will delete it without reading it. Such is the nature of Hotmail.

My DS-8 is now non-functioning, but cosmeticlly 10/10. If anybody wants it for parts, let me know and make an offer. It responds to MIDI, but no front panel control.

I use DS-8 as a solo monophonic synth. Sounds great! Not so fat, as analog, but with portamento effect & long delay seems K. Emerson's leads. (remember the "TRILOGY" opening theme? Sounds like this!) Also DS-8 has a nice EP.
