I bought my i3 in '95, it's a good workstation, but right now i have a problem, the integrated circuit is busted and the dealer here in my country tells me that they could not find a replacement, because korg phased out the i.c. on this model. That really sucked! Hope i could find one... if anyone knows something, your email would be appreciated...

I love my key board. the i3 is a great sounding device that I would put up against any key board you could possibly sound.

I have my Korg i3 about 4 years ago, i think it sounds very accoustic. i love jazz, blues, dangdut, keroncong, malay, sundaness and i get all of those sounds from my Korg i3. I have a trouble with the buttons, sometimes unfunctional and hard to push..aren't they??? all of that, i love my Korg i3 and the sounds too...

Have used my I3 since mid 90's and have had pretty good luck with it... Am a Songwriter and have found it to be quite useful in getting those ideas down quickly but haven't found anyone else working with it quite like I do... I found the onboard sequencer to be much to DOS like and tedious plus the little funky display that they offered made you blind in no time... so I started playing it straight into a lap top Mac with an old program called Master Tracks... It was straightforward... reliable and would always work even with a little midi interface Macman... but getting the sounds to match up and to play from Master Tracks required some tweaking from the I3 itself and I usually relied upon using the basic 6 tracks provided by the I3 Arrangement setup and hit the Arrangement buttons on the I3 before hitting play on Mastertracks... thereby overriding all that tedious programming of sounds by way of the Sequencing program which only gave you General Midi Choices... I know this is all back asswards but most of the time it worked... and all I'd have to do was to remember the Arrangement Number for each song... Now it's 10 years later and I'm looking to upgrade to an LE or later Korg and I still don't see one that provides a Band in a Box like approach with cool sounds... As a Songwriter you basically want a reliable Intro, Verse, Chorus, Bridge and Finale withouth all the Note by note fiddling around as with most of the Synths I see out there... I'm basically a Sax player who knows how to play changes on keyboard and the i3 was great for doing that... Now I'm working with DP3 and Cubase VST 32 and Cubase seems more reliable and always fires up with the Midi whereas DP3 is better with recording the Finished sound... Have bought a Motu 828 which promised to put all these together on my G4 but its another serious learning curve and I miss my little 4 track just to get things down quickly... and with as little fuss a possible.. What are the hot setups out there now? And ooops almost forgot why I got on this website in the first place... has anyone found a workaround for that little dinky display on the i3 and do those lights burn out? Is there a replacement... and most of all is there a computer based driver that could control all those sounds, arrangements and choices so that you can do control the I3 from your computer monitor? Thanks, Joe
