VAST is awesome! The possiblities of this thing are endless. Although I mainly use mine to sequence my other gear, the onboard sounds are quite good, and the possiblities for creating your own are virtually limitless. It has a very 'dark' sound compared to other workstations like the Motif series. The sampler is excellent too, and it's got more i/o options than any other workstation available, and it's 10 years old! Awesome synth, I'd only sell it to get the newer K2600. This thing is a beast!

VAST is a good technology, and Kurzweil samples are pretty good, but its worst problem is polyphony - only 48? I sold this for a Yamaha Motif ES with 128 notes polyphony. Though ES doesn't have VAST, I love its organic sounds and synth effects. I may get the new Kurzweil PC 161 just to add the Kurzweil sounds to the mix!

Best synth I've ever used. V.A.S.T. is amazing and the the 48-voice polyphony is a big improvement over the 24-voice K2000 (which is also a great synth). Why bother with any other brands? Kurzweil has the best sound and is the most versatile.
