Mike N a hobbyist user from USA, this is not a forum for asking help -and you even rated this item as ZERO. There is propably Yahoo groups for that.
That review (and this) should be removed.
To say something on topic, i say that i would like to have K2/2500 -of course 2600 but i know they are gonna be too expensive to mee for next 10 years. =( K2000 is good addition to my setup too, as i have external effects which are better than those in K2k. I have readed pretty much about Kurzweils and can say without using it that it has huge amount of parameters to edit and because it has many outputs (at least in a rack), it is very usefull. Also bigger RAM amount when comparing it to my EPS16+ is good thing indeed.
Sampling options and OS upgrades can be found from EBAY from time to time (even in this very moment). Aswell as ROM blocks..

I just got my first Kurzweil...a K2000RS!!! I love the quality of the sounds as I heard it before buying...$300. I'm a composer and have a Korg SG-1D Sampling Grand and it has midi. Please, advise me on how to set this equiptment up. I also have a MAC G4 tower with tons of memory , also have a zip drive. This is all I have, but it should be enough for me to start "composing!" I'm in NYC so should be able to take a class.... Any advice will be tremendously appreciated! THANKS SO MUCH!

My K2000S arrived a few days ago...since then it amazes me with every sound that comes out of it. I own a few other synths from Roland: Jd990, Jv1080, Jp8000, D550 and MKS70..good synths also.., but K2000, what a synth...so much power, excellent sound texture. I never thought that you can have all the famous analog sounds in only one synth.
A dream that came true for me... Mark: they should put a "6" for K2000

I love it. I love it. I love it...like I have never loved any inanimate object.
Yes, the effects suck; yes, the EP/B3 sounds are all but unuseable; but for flexibility, it cannot be beat. I use this live with a Juno-106 and a Casio CZ-1, and knock on wood, I don't expect to have to purchase any more gear for some time to come.
You can download some awesome programs from Sweetwater, and once you dive in to creating your own sounds from scratch, the possibilities are truly endless.
Best $500 I ever spent, period.

I agree with the reviewer "E" below. I own a metric ton of synthesizer gear, and the Kurz still stands out. I suppose some users are afraid to dive into programming this synth that is still pretty deep despite its age... Just tried the mulstistage envlopes. They only seem redundant until you really tried to program those.
The effects suck but this almost to be expected. All in all, this is a great machine and if you need a sample playback in addition to some synth tweaks, that's the ticket. Hook it up to an editor like Wavelab via SCSI, and you'll be loading WAV files in no time. Just don't forget to change the SCSI host ID on the Kurz, it might clash with other gear and your PC.
One of the best 10 synths ever, period.
