I Found My K2000S-V3 at a pawnshop. It had two broken keys so bought it for $350.00. Man! This is the best envestment I ever made. After dealing with Prophet 5's, Dx7's, W 30's, and the such, I have finally found the keyboard of my dreams and can rest in program and sound heaven. What a GREAT machine. Take my advice.......GET ONE!!!

All right here's my shpeel. I've had the k2000 for about 5 years. It was my 1st, and now i have about 16 synths, not counting the Pulsar, and Reaktor. I have learned an incredible amount about synthisizing from all of 'em and lately I've been really into the k2000. I have been making some sounds that smoke ANY synth iv'e heard. Unless you have a giant room size modular, you can never do what this does other wise. when budding synth heads ask me what the 1st synth they should buy, I always tell 'em the k2000. BUT, the sequencer sucks hard. Maybe someone has got it figured out, I wish i could. If any one can tell me how to get it (the sequencer ) to loop, i will send them some of the most bitchen satanic hell k2000 patches you've ever imagined. Buy one now, they are so inexpensive. Oh ya, all of you MUST hook up a knobby or fat boy controller, that is what makes this synth unbelieveable

The K2000 is a very deep synth with loads of high quality features that make it incredibly powerful. Although at first glance merely another ROMPLER, the K2000 is best understood as a synth/sampler with an extremely lush sound and vast (pun intended) editing facilities.

The one thing that stands out above all is the quality of sound exuded by the K2000. The high-end frequency response is very lush, never brittle or noisy. This extremely musical upper range allows the K2000 to shine above even the digital darlings of today in sheer sound quality.

The ability to use almost any sample-based ROM and load it into the K2000 is a huge advantage. The K2000 can load Akai, Roland and other manufacturers samples and manipulate them in many complex and eerie ways. Two thumbs up on this feature alone!

Overall, the K2000 is an excellent addition to a synth rig as it combines sampling with synthesis and indepth programming features. This synth is a workhorse--it can easily do the work of 3 or 4 good synths.

I rate it very, very highly. Almost as classic as a Prophet 5 or Jupiter 8.

The K2000 is one of the best synths I've ever laid my hands on. Most versatile and expressive. Programming it is a bit tricky but after a couple of days of experimenting you get deeper and deeper into its massive sonic possibilies. IMHO capable of nearly any experimental synthetic sound. And if the great synthesis structure does not lead to your desired sound... it's still a sample player. Used it a lot on my crystal polymorphs album (experimental house/tech music, visit: for information and mp3 examples).

i bought mine for $1350 in 93,added sampling option w/ 64mb ram was another $1350.but this worths it. kurzweil sounds warm, fat and thick.especially best for sweeping pads, synths, and the moogy bass is the best emulation in the pcm synth field.i used a lot w. the mod wheel.the downside is the sampling, don't get me wrong, its sampling function is powerful and the most powerful thing is u can edit the sample thru its strong filters, and effectors.just edit it like a analog synth.i mean there's some clippings when sampling,no matter it by digital or stereo analog(yap,u need to use a y-cable to plug into k2000's single phone jack).another bonus is u can load many third party samples like akai, emu, roland, ensoniq, its the first synth made this breakthru, crossed the borders of different ego-minded manufacturers.
