David Etheridge a professional user from U.K. writes:
I've had my PX since 1988, and have recently upgraded it with the PXA board, and I'm about to get another one! Did you know that you can link up to 12 together for 288 voice polyphony? The sounds are simply magnificent, with air and room to the samples that are entirely lacking in (my opinion) Proteus modules. It's very easy to come up with magnificent arrangements very quickly, and the range of sounds are essential for anyone doind material that doesn't fir into dance/rap/techno tec. styles of music. The drums on the PXA upgrade are some of the most realistic I've ever heard, with cymbals that decay for ages (no looping on the reverb tails). I'm using an Atari for all my MIDI work, and use Objectmover for recall of sounds (Downloadable free from Young Chang's ftp site). I now own all four of the modules (PX, SX, HX and GX) and recommend them to anyone wanting to tackle the art of arranging and orchestration head on. One thing to be aware of with the different models is that the string sounds on the PX are deeper and richer than those on the SX string module. The folks at Young Chang told me that the SX has different filters on the outputs which ar a bit brighter than the lush sounding PX. It's a shame that the 1000 series didn't sell better-maybe it's not, because you can now pick them up for silly prices (currently 200 in the UK). What's that principle about innovators not always making money out of ideas, but the folks who follow on from them get the success? If you find ANY one of the 1000 range, snap it up, you won't regret it. The only drawback is that the instrument's so deep, that however much you explore the programming, there's always another level you discover! You'll find a testament to the power of the 1000 series in some of the really off the wall sounds. Press edit, and you'll probbaly find that the base Soundfile turns out to be a grand piano!!

Joonas Id a hobbyist user from Finland writes:
I bought a 1000PX plus a couple of weeks ago (for about $100). I don't know really about the differences between the original and the "Plus" model, save for the interface (the Plus has a 10-key pad for direct access of programs). The sounds are great, especially considering the unit's age - of course not for techno or anything even remotely modern, but some of the acoustic sounds (flutes, horns, strings and of course THE piano sound) shine. The user interface is rather limited - I hate that dim LCD - but I'll get by. I really haven't tried programming this thing much yet, but the editing enviroment seems rather friendly - if time-consuming. The mod section is nothing short of incredible for a non-modular system (well, the manual calls it modular). Sadly, no filters nor built-in effects, excluding the "compiled" pseudo-effects which are programmed by clever usage of LFO's and envelopes. All in all, a very useable module.
