This is a really special 'board. I picked one up on E-bay dur to the ridiculously low price - it's rather huge and very heavy (over 100 pounds), the sequencer is cool for its age but a bit no-user-friendly (2-line lcd after all)... but the sounds and the keyboard are SWEET!

Horns are absolutley incredible (my sequences have never sounded as convincing), pianos and EPs quite nice and playable, and on and on.

I don;t plan on selling this one anytime soon!

I have used mine since 1987 and I still love it. The only keys I use. You can hear it on my albums at www.cdbaby.com/gr8trax

Great to see a forum still around discussing Kurzweil 250s :)

I have had two K250 RMXs since the early 1990s and still use them a lot these days - especially when I need to do wierd stuff such as create a crash cymbal which uses the envelope & other charateristics of another instrument, such as a Tenor Sax, or morph up some bizzare soundtrack pads or sfx - lovely tool for this type of work.

Its other brilliant aspects of course, include its fender rhodes (especially with tremolo), its clavs, horns and accoustic piano.

Even though I rely a lot these days on the Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra product for much of my orchestral work, the good old K250 kicks butt and always comes in very handy for a whole host of things.

Bill Young a professional user from US writes:
I am fortunate enough to own a pristine K250 with soundblocks A-D and OS version 6.03. It remains the cornerstone of my studio for accurate reprodution of acoustic instruments and is my absolute favorite keyboard to play. I have compared it,s sounds and playability to most of the high end synths and samplers that have come and gone over the past several years and this is my hands down favorite. The sound detailing and control flexibility is still unmatched to my ears. I also have a Korg Triton studio, K-2500, several Roland JV series instruments among others. Only the K-2500 is close. Two thumbs up for my favorite keyboard of all time.

jasp a part-timer user from u.s. writes:
Just got one of these for less than you'd pay for a used quadrasynth and am amazed by the weight (97 pounds) and the sound of this thing. I tend to favor making my own sounds (Octave Cat!) yet this thing does let you screw the sounds up a bit and the sounds themselves--especially strings & vocals--are haunting and vivid. Nice sequencer and sampling abilities as well. Best 5 foot wide lead-weighted keyboard I've ever played. Feels just like a piano.
