I lead a band and this is our road piano/organ. It weighs a ton and pulls my arm off in its SKB case (I don't know HOW the handle on that case stays on!) but there is no other sounding keyboard that matches it. I do need to find out who can troubleshoot some pitch problems that are starting to happen - anybody know where to go?

This keyboard is built like a tank (and almost as heavy). I've dragged it on the road for 15 years, and aside from a few nasty gashes, like from when I dropped it down a flight of stairs, it performs like it's fresh out of the factory. You try that with one of these brittle, plastic keyboards they're selling today (damn kids)! I love this board. I still remember the day I bought it; my girlfriend called me an idiot for wasting my $600, but 15 years later she's history, and my K1000 is the love of my life :D If you're lucky enough to have one of these solid machines, HOLD ON TO IT. They don't make em like this anymore, and I doubt they ever will again.

I own a K1000 Synth and so far is the best keyboard I have used.I love the Piano sounds as they are outstanding in tonal quality when compared to other rival models. I'm looking for some info on upgrading it to a more sophisticated version like adding a CD drive/ sequencer/USB drive etc.

I've had my K1000 for years and years and it is by far the best keyboard I have. Now, I have a question, can anyone help me with getting it upgraded? Is there anyway to add new sounds, like a good bass guitar? Thanks for any info.

Kevin C a professional user from USA writes:
I took my trusty K1000 down the road about 10 years. I loved that keyboard but finally one of the metal weights fell into an area that fried it. I have a Roland XV-88 with the Concert Piano expansion card and I swear the piano is not as good as the K1000. The dynamic voice allocation that the previous poster mentioned is also sorely missed. That is a great asset for expressive "live" playing on stage. One of the great keyboards of all time.
