Lovely sounding and easy to program. Good to gig with.

I played a M1 Korg for about 4 years, its got some great organ and brass sounds, but when it comes to piano sounds it does not make it on any level, they just sound crap no matter how much you try to play with them.

Love it! Sounds lush and deep. Easy to edit. Great in multi mode. If you were to ask a non-musician what a synth sounds like, they would pick the sound of an M1 and a Prophet5. Built like a tank. Hasn't aged as badly as some have suggested here. Non owners have probably posted that. All your favourite tracks probably contain an M1 sound. Nice keyboard. Own one and you will use it. ALL THE TIME! I love some of the postings here. 'I've owned and played non stop an M1 for 15 yrs...and hate it! Get real! Miles better than D50s and DX7s. It quite rightly killed them off. As someone said down the list, Korg could still sell them today. The set up is so easy to get great results. Not scarey to use like the Triton and Z1.

Sometimes I love sometimes i hate this keyboard.I own a Roland d50 and there's a deep difference between the sounds that these machines do.M1 has the classic cold, clear korg sound, Roland has hotter ones.M1 is anyway a great machine, solid as a rock(i've had mine since 1994, and never had a problem gigging;some buttons i have to push now with a not so delicate touch),and though it's old you can play everything with it.Some cards(e.g. organs and piano) may do the difference.A lot of prog-combi are avaiable on the net.The polyphony is its main problem:the synth would work very well with more polyphony(only 16).Sound i like:piano so&so,organ1(with distortion to play Deep Purple, God bless Mr. Jon Lord!), some strings.

As with many things in life, new doesn't necessarily mean good. The M1 sounds are fine and can still be heard everywhere. As someone said below, you can have a studio packed full of new kit. Yet the M1 will be the synth you will use the most. I have a Z1, one of the best synths around. However, the M1 is still used all the time. It sounds clear and is a doddle to program. It has two good sound effectors..not one as someone suggested..and a fine keyboard. It is so easy to use when compared to other digital kit. I've also got a JD800 which is easier to program but which doesn't sound as good. The M1 is a great synth. Things came together successfully to make a fine, professional keyboard. It just works well. That's why professionals still them them 15 yrs on.
