For its price the M1 is the best thing you can get. I had one but I trade for a trinity. Since I have the PBS-TRI option, I can the M1 presets inside of my Trinity. I'm telling you I know every litle trick about it. Got questions, I got answers. I know how to create extra patches like accordions and organs. If you are a lucky one that has one, don't sell it. It's a Historical Pice of Art

The M1 is a great synth. Sure it's a bit dated if you only play the factory presets (Would somebody please strangle the guy who programmed preset 41, it was a crappy piano sound in 1989, and guess what - it's still crappy! I don't care if people use it because it cuts thru a mix, as far as I'm concerned it should be buried in the mix, or left out altogether. But hey, even I'm guilty of shaking my booty in the local disco, while countless songs featuring M1 preset 41 playing bouncy triad chords over TR808 beats play overhead. I love to contradict myself.). Like most Korg synths, the M1 is simple to use. It may have multiple pages to scroll thru to get to where you want to go, but it is logical and commonsense orientated in it's layout. The only exception would be it's worthless, good for nothing, limited sequencer. THE ONLY THING THE SEQUENCER WAS GOOD FOR WAS RAISING THE PRICE OF THE M1. Hook it up to a real sequencer (Akai MPC or ASQ) and then you will appreciate the M1's easy to use multi-timbral power. And for crying out loud, learn to program new sounds on it, it can do quite a bit. My only regret in buying the M1 is that I traded in some great old synths (including my original mint Jupiter 6) when getting it. By the way, what's with the M&M style buttons. If you break one open, is there just chocolet on the inside or will there be a peanut.

If you program your synth (instead of playing the presets) you will find the M1
to be a lot of fun. The FX are still good by today's standards. Portamento
and resonant filters are the things I think it lacks. I'm not selling mine!

I've owned a few synths and the M1 is the best so far - i do dance / industrial music - finding the Synth 2 PCM card (and a boss dr-660) helped that alot - was given a Mac SE which acts as my M1's disk drive via MIDI - this machine is not trendy right now, but with its built in effects and gobs of synth waveforms, IT IS UNDER-RATED - skip past the cliche piano, string, and choir samples and you have a capable machine only wish - want to trade up my CZ-101 to a 3000 or 5000 and hoping to find an EX card someday and i'll hgave the ultimate studio (for a hobbyist)

It's the best synthesizer I'd ever seen, its value is better than anything else.
The M1 would be perfec if it had a floopy drive and more sound like the O1/W or
the Trinity.
