Rick Jelliffe a hobbyist user from Australia writes:
In features, the ETI 4600 is like an ARP 2600 with one extra of everything, hence the name I suppose: 4 VCO not 3, 2 VCF not 1, 3 EG not 2, 3 VCA not 2.

But physically it owes much more to the EMS lines: it is like 1/3 of a Synthi 100, with a pin matrix, VCOs arranged in one block horizontally, and with another block of EGs horizontal and vertial VCAs and VCFs under them, just like the Synthi 100.

In its circuits, it uses the exponential VCOs like the original Moog modulars, has an innovative envelope generator as well as a conventional ADSR, and an innovative switched capacitor filter, which is probably the weakest spot. Like the small EMS synths, it does not have VCPWM. One of its design tricks is that the VCOs direct feed into a three 5-channel mixers, which reduces the size needed for the pin Matrix.

Remarkably, as of mid 2007 the PCBs for this were still available for order: over 30 years!

Peter a hobbyist user from Sweden writes:
It took 8 weeks just to build it. The sounds were fantastic, but it took some time to set up the sounds with a 22x22 patchboard. Unfortunately i have not enough patchplugs left, but the Synth is still functioning. If i find patchplugs i am going to use it to sample sound for further use in music production.

I give it 3/5 as a analog synth to play on and 5/5 to use as a sound bank.
