The Stage I has a very soft-feeling keyboard, but the Stage II has an updated keyboard that is more of a pleasure for most people to play. I like the Stage I keyboard better, but that's my opinion. With OS 2.00, you are given an arpeggiator, which is both easy to access and program. Out of the 100 presets, about 70 have arp settings programmed with them. There is not a single preset from the factory that can't be used. This is a POWERFUL keyboard. For a monophonic one-note-at-a-time synth, this thing can take on almost any polysynth. This thing is a beast! It's got four main knobs, a pitch wheel, a mod wheel, octave up and down buttons, as well as buttons that allow you to edit any parameter you want. This is a great synth for learning synthesis, as the layout is ergonomic and intuitive. You won't be overwhelmed by too many knobs, and the lights on the four knobs let you know where your settings are. This is a wonderful synth, once you spend some time with it.
Also, this synth is upgradable via the MIDI jacks. Stage II users have a USB port for MIDI as well. Stage I users have the option of purchasing a new side panel from moogmusic.com for 100 USD. It is very simple to switch out, and you will not void the warranty by doing it yourself. Stage I users can find the OS update on the Moog Music website, under the Little Phatty section.
With all this comes great tech support. There's a Moog forum also on the website, and users regularly are available for tips and information. Even if you DON'T have a Moog, you can check it out to see what people are saying. The company reps are often found on this forum and are more than willing to listen to any suggestions for future OS updates or even new products.
