Your right. Its a crap synth in every way. Crap but ground breaking. The strings are nice. The keyboard feels good. Both the electrics and hardware are both unreliable. Avoid buying unless very cheap which they never will be.

Brian Old a professional user from NFA writes:
Now that all polymoogs have all gone up in smoke, people will look back with amusing nostalgia. Samples of organish, thin sounds will become available. Some will design synths to look like the ugly love child of a Rhodes piano and medical monitoring equipment. Maybe not. Let's not be foolish and think that this synth was anything more that a stop gap between monosynths and the prophet 5. Besides the string sound pumped through a decent chorus, the polymoog sounded rubbish. The reliability was worse than the CS80's....yes, that bad. It was heavy as a house, yep, the iceing on the cake, that! I feel sorry, now they are all dead. Like the Ondes Martonet, another 'thing' from a bygone era is sent to the tar pit of technology. Maybe not. There are still a few recordings about to haunt us.

i own fourteen polymoogs so i know them well.vox humana is unique, synths of today all fail to copy the sound. unreal is how i would describe both models. the best moog ever made.

Mike a part-time user from Slough writes:
Just dreadful. The worst synth of all time. I doubt there is a fully functioning one in existance. Only play in the garage. This ol' pig will burn your house down. The electrics are primative and badly made and designed. You have to weigh up cost and cost and of ownership with sound and general usefullness. This synth does not compare with any of it's contemporaries or price rivals.
