Hey. I really love the prodigy, I got one at a pawn shop really cheap and I've been having loads of fun with it.

I made this diagram (see URL below) for patch notation, so prodigy users can simply print this out and color in the diagram to record the knob, wheel and switch placements for any sound they make.

Hmm, I wasn't mad about the Prodigy. I think it was out of tune which tainted my opinion a little, but it seemed very hollow and didn't do a lot for what I paid for it, or for its considerable size. If I could get one now for like 100 I would buy it, but really I would rather have another model, a Rogue or even a Satellite. I don't regret selling it, anyway.

You cannot go wrong with a Prodigy. Its simplicity could be seen as a weakness, but this is it's real strength - put simply, it's almost impossible to get a bad sound from it.

Ripping leads and massively warm basses are what it does best (I guess this is true for Moogs in general), and it's not so limited that you can't tweak out a few decent fx's from time to time.

All in all, a real beauty: after a while you may wish it more sonic possibilities, but you'll never get bored with the sound.

I got mine for $50, and it just wasnt getting power to it, Fixed it in 10 minutes. THe thing sat for 10+ years, and is perfect. Which I like, this is what you would use to get the real moogish sounds which are pretty popular. If you can find one cheap dont pass the offer, you wont regret it.

CD a part-timer user from USA writes:
My first synth was a Prodigy, and I had lots of fun with it...I couldn't afford a MiniMoog and the Prodigy gave me a close approximation to the Mini sound at a much cheaper price...I used it extensively on my first two independently-released albums...it's great for stabbing lead lines and special effects...run it thru an effects box for even more tonal variation...the band Joy Electric uses the Prodigy; it's even pictured on the cover of their "Robot Rock" CD. It's a nice little synth; I wish I still had mine!
