I received my MG-1 for my 15th birthday in 1984. Here it is 16 years later, and it's still in good condition ! I really did realize what I had until the early 90s, when some fellow musicians saw it, and wanted to buy it right off hand. But I didn't ! Thank God I didn't ! I love using it for my bass lines. It has a very unique sound !

I picked this up at a flea market for hella cheap, and I love it. The sound is soooo smooth! The controls are pretty simple but you can get some fuked up sounds from it. Weird effects and percussion are some. But the smooth warm sounds are what this synth is good at. It kind of made me forget all about the pro-1! If you have a chance to get this synth, go for it!!! you will be happy. Plus people think they're rat shack garbage and worth nothing. They're wrong, this is a really good synth full of warm character.

I played with this unit and it plays 32notes max polyphonic in certain settings ala organ style. It has 32 panasonic style keys with copper open air switches under each key.Can be a problem if dusty or you spill something as the open switches, like on korg dw8000/dss1 and yamaha dx7/pf80 can cause stuck notes or bad responsiveness.

i bought mine after reading the favorable "future music" retro review . if you can find one for a good price it can be a nice addition to your kit list, but don't spend a lot on one unless your motive is collecting or something other than making music. overall i would give it a 2.5 out of five and say that the mg-1 is "o.k." i would suggest that anyone considering a mg-1 purchase should also consider the novation bass station. it's similar sounding (very similar) with midi, memory, and a lot less noise...no disrespect to moog.

the ups man just arrived a few days ago with this little fukka n a midi/cv converter:)...traded it for the an1x... my first analog synth and i fuckin love it:o), the sounds are great, lots of globs of space sounds, the particular one i got has 2 external filters, extra detune, extra resonance(where the normal would go 1-10 this goes 1-15 with the extra knob full) and a joystick controller to control cutoff, i don't know if my mg1 sounds like anyone elses but it sounds fucking amazing, i wish there was a way to allow the polyphonic oscillator to be triggered by midi! if anyone knows of a mod please email me and tell it to me!(or any place i can get schematics for it)
