The best drum machine i have come accross - I love the HH and Cymbols - my only gripe is that the standard kits need work before they re truely useable.

Allright, I finally have a replacement for my x0x's. Dont get me wrong, I'm still keeping the real deals but now I have something to take to gigs and parties without everyone Eyeballin my expensive gear ,( because I live between L.A. & Detroit). The only reason I bought it was so I wouldnt scrath up my origionals hauling them around but, I've actually come to like the Drumstation MORE than my others because i think it sounds a little tighter; A little sharper. And the Drumstation's 808 kick has an undeniably faster attack than the real and the fact that everything on it is tunable reminds me of an "Analogue Solutions" modified 808 ($2500 mod). The way I new it was the one was when I recreated Marvin Gayes beat on 'sexual healing' and compared the two for hours. Extremely convincing.... no-one at a party or in the studio will ever know the difference except you. Buy it if ou want those sounds, dont listen to your freinds cause they probablly dont know what there talking about, as I recreate vintage sounds for a living...............and have listened to my OWn freinds,(techno heads), try try to talk me out of things like this.......in the end I am very happy w/ this decision. Oh, by the way get Version 2.0 if can find it as the first model may have some bugs.

I bought the novation a couple of months ago, and I think it lives up to my expectations. One thing they could have added, though, is a reversed cymbal...But if you want the 909/808, this is the one to buy.

Straight-foward 808/909...no extras. Decent tuning on the front, but like I said...nothing extra.

I've had this for a while and have to say it is a fun machine to use! Only complaints are that there are not enough user program spaces & the distortion is not as good as everyone boasts...more like a grungy accent, if anything. I do have to compliment the controls which are straightfoward and easy to learn/use except that you get lost in them occasionally with the drum kit switching from one to the other...argh! I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a convincing alternative to the originals at a fraction of their prices.
