This is what was missing from my setup. The K-Station is an incredible value. First off let me say that the unit is very light, but the construction is overall pretty sturdy, your basic plastic construction top and metal chassis on the bottom. The actual keys could been a little more sturdy they are pretty cheap, but the rest of the unit is pretty impressive. The knobs are all very tight and are of the clicking variety so they automatically get a thumbs up from me. The only thing I noticed a problem with was that when you turn the data knob that changes the voice a crackling sound sounds from the output. The LCD screen is incredible, the most readable one I have every seen, not the biggest, but does the job. The Pitch and Mod Wheels are very nice, I believe they are made of rubber or at least have a rubber coating, the grip is very good and they are very tight and accurate. As far as the sound of the unit is concerned, it is breathtaking. WOW! It will knock your socks off unless of course you owned a nova or supernovaII before buying the K-Station. This thing sounds incredible, you have so much control to make any sound you want, beutiful pads, screaming leads, and fat bass lines, crazy noises, anything. The oscillators are insane on this thing, and the effects are great, because you can apply several effects to the same voice which adds so much to the sound since it is only 1 part multitimbral. The 8 voice poly is kind of shady, but I thought it would have been at least 16 but there are only 25 keys on the keyboard so, oh well. Overall I would give this board a 4.2 or 4.5, but since I can only choose a single number on the rating I will give it a 4 out of 5, only because I don't think it is perfect enough for a 5. Overall this unit is a great compact package, I know it will be in my studio for a long time, and I would highly recommend it to others.
