to answer Mark's question about software that can accomplish what the drummer will do, hmmmm..., I dont think there is anything out there. The Drummer is a real-time hardware device that is perfect for live use or DJing due to the easy control and simple matrix style interface. Its an odd item that hardly anyone knows about and probably will never show up in the software realm....but that's ok with me because I hate computers anyway (lol).

Yeah, really, and while you guys are at it, please dont mention the other Perf/x devices. We gotta keep these "secret" weapons a secret (heheh!). Dont let the word get out. :} Have you noticed how little information there is on the web about the Drummer, Stummer, Cyclone, Systemizer & Navigatior? Its cuz the guys who use 'em dont want everyone to know the tricks these puppies can do. Serious MIDI back flippers made to please the most intense MIDI maniacs. Get one and you will be blown away with what it can do. trust me.

If you are talkin like the MPC-60 or MPC-60II, that is a different animal...drum machine sampler sequencer type of machine. The OB Drummer is really very different in that there is no sampling at all. The Drummer is a real-time interactive sequencer. It is in its own category in the sense that it will provide you with an uncanny type of "real" drummer feeling with its many patterns / rhythm variations within your typical drum machine "sterile" pattern. It is far beyond the concept of quantizing and it is very unique in this way. The Drummer is meant to be used in conjunction with your drum machine or sampler or workstation's programmed rhythm. You have 4 seperate 1/4" inputs for extensive foot pedal control which gets pretty interesting. This device was very cutting edge and came out right around the time that the OB Strummer came out....another killer OB product in this Perf/x series. Too bad products like these all but disappeared when OB started to transform or disappear from the marketplace. They were all discontinued unfortunately. There are still some floating around out there tho and very much worth finding!!! Happy hunting!!

This thing is a dream for creating and pumping life into any boring drum track. Its a rare find, but its more that worth it.
