i find OB-12 really good, lots of realtime controils, v-analogue that sounds fat enought to be virtual.

I just got the OB12 cos it was going for £500 from Turnkey , I hadnt heard it b4 I purchased it and had my fingers crossed when I plugged it in..

This synth sounds wonderfull.... very analog sounding and capable of doing its own sound that makes it different from the usual nord/virus/supernova(i have them also) it fits in great with my setup at home and creates the type of noises I want without much fuss. The unison mode really thickens out the sound - more so than that of the SN2/Virus and so can do the trance sounds perfectly we know and love(hate) from the JP8000

downside is the fx section - a distortion saturation on the filter would be nice instead of over the mix like a guitar pedal, the reverb is pretty bad also.

overal if u have outboard fx then this synth is a steal , get one quick while they still stock them... and learn to programme it as the presets are shite!!

This is the most analogu VA Synth. No comparesons to Crap like the MS 2000, the OB 12 has the closest feeling to analogueness. I own VAs like Virus and Prophecy (besides to analog synths like the roland sh2 or a100). But this thing is really outstanding in its phat, warm filters (check very interesting combinations of LP and HP) and total silder orientated editing - this thing is not equipped with sliders, it is ruled by sliders and knobs! The Virus looses it, because of its hidden menues and its totally stupid organized multi mode. One weak point may the little cheap sounding oscillators (sometimes they remind me some of the best waves in the cs1x), but the are so complex to form and squeeze, that it comes really alive. Yeah, the filters sound sometimes EMS like... the ring and Fm modulations are very complex indeed... you get damn good oldscool experimental noise and crap out of it, besides strange and beatiful leads. But for steril matrix modulation bullshit, look for others. this is intended do be ANALOG and not VIRTUAL. Viscount did not make it big because of the overpresence from other producers like access or novation... the ob12 is really outstanding and so damn cheap that I thaught it was plastic crap. But I was totally wrong. Taste it, get it! PS.: Forget that stupid Sounds from the OB12 Pages. They sound cheap and sterile like hell.

Looked at my OB 12 today and said hallelujah I have seen the future so I gave it 5 stars for hearing everything I need to hear and more out of that machine I'll never ever sell that machine unless some new company wants to offer the same amount of knobs for the same amount of money I paid $750.00 with twice the features and twice the power and I still probably wouldn't sell my OB 12.
