Salud!

What a great synth! Lovely sound (once you get past the presets, which aren't as bad as people says, in my opinion), best user interface around, very good keyboard and control options. Unbeatable price for a really different VA.

On the bad side, it has no external inputs.

I think it deserves a 4, but I'll give it a 5 to compensate for all those reviews from people who rate it 1 after 2 minutes playing in a store.

The Oberheim OB-12 is a very professional synth. Mad props to the folks at Viscount for releasing it. First off the construction is great all 33 or so pounds of it. Full steel chassis, beautiful blue color with true wooden sides painted black, with loads of quality knobs, buttons, and sliders, not to mention an enormous lcd screen which is unusual on a VA. The 49 keys feel especially nice with a semi weighted feel, a standard pitch and modulation wheel plus touch pad really add to the mix. The sound quality is very nice yet the OS needs some work. While it hasn't crashed on me yet, I have noticed some overloading in the stereo output when the frequency knob is twiddled, mostly the right side. The effects are pretty nice and easily turned on and off, they add a lot to the sound, without them it still sounds good though. I am really enjoying this synth, and at the price I got it for, $599, it is the best deal on a synth in its price range available, although it is discontinued. Viscount is supposed to support it for a while longer, but I have yet to get a reply from them through email in over a month about it. To sum it up it is a great synth, and I would recommend it, but it still needs some work, so I give it a 3.5, so I will round it to a 4.

Found myself a second-hand OB12 from a techno-studio who didn't edit the factory-sound-banks at all (so far their originality...). Thanks guys! You don't know what you could have created with a SUPERSYNTH like this. This was just the synth I've been looking for so long...

Since my first Fisher-Technic toys at the age of 9 years old I haven't freaked out this way... This synth most definatly will become a high standard classic synth. I don't mind what-ever people might think, most important is that I have one to play around with...

The looks, the sounds, the userfriendly logical way of old-school-synthesizing...

I love it, I LOVE IT!!!

If any-one outthere is in a mood of making a Mac-editor (a PC-home-made-editor is allready on the loose): comes in handy!

Let's share all our OB12 sounds together!

There seems to be a range of opinions on this synth but the negative ones didn't stop me from getting one, good job too, cos it is fantastic. Yes the presets are mostly rubbish, but who uses presets anyway ? The key point of an analog synth (virtual or real) is the ability to create your own sounds and you can do that til the cows come home with this beauty.

The morph feature is truly amazing, it should be mandatory on all synths, the degree of control over all aspects of the sound is superb, this machine is quality, just feel the weight. And it's blue !
