I really like mine...The best thing about it is the slider on the front...so if you like your toast a little darker you can adjust...I really like to turn it up in realtime. You just see those coils heating up when you increase the toast gain. But on some days if I want just a little toasting you adjust the knob in realtime to the left. But beware sometime it gets a little hot on the side. Rob

I have two of them. I find them useful to merge three synths inputs into one output to save me mixer space. Also they add a little resonant flavor even without using Midi to trigger the envelopes. I have not noticed any zipper noise when turning the knobs. However, sometimes the Spectrum will sound a little pop at the beginning of an audio signal coming through if the envelope follower is triggered using Midi. So I don't use Midi and thus lose out on half the function of the unit. Also I just had the batteries replaced. These batteries are self recharging batteries that leak acid over time without giving any warning. If your batteries have not been changed by now (these filters are all over 10 years old), take the filter to a tech to replace them NOW and clean away the oxide the batteries exude before irreparable damage is done to the internal circuitry. Also the battery is barrel shaped and sits very neatly between two terminals and looks like it would remove easily but Peavey thoughtfully soldered them in place!

This thing is awesome!! Cant figure out why Peavey stopped producing this one. Its easy to use and has the power to turn cheese into total Phatt!! I love mine and its gets a lot of use. I also have the electrix filter factory which is way cool, but this puppy has its own flavor. If you can find one (they are rarely popping up here and there) grab it fast!! You wont want to let it go. Very useful and reliable machine. Maybe Peavey will do it again, and put out another analog filter, probably not. Who knows why? Its a mystery to me. I would buy a 2nd one if I could find another for $200.

I really, really like this one - even though it's beeing a few years old... I don't use it for real-time tweaks... just load a preset and have it like that; The SAF on one MIDI channel and the source synth on another MIDI channel...
