i have had my quadrasynth for about 9 years and use the keyboard on it as a master. In the past i have used loads of synths, juno 1, 106, sh101, d50 loads of yamahas, ensoniq, korg, kawai etc. I connot understand anyone saying a bad word about this synth. The sounds are very useable it has some awesome pads, great rhodes, good synth sounds and smooth in the mix. In fact i would say the ob8 pad is my best pad from any synth ive owned. The other thing i love about this is the layering and keyboard splitting you can make massive sounds and they sound great and nice and refined and mellow. Yes the buttons are funky, the screen is too small and it can be temperamental but i would never part with it. Look beyond all this and this is a great multi purpose synth and in my eyes a classic. It beats the d50, m1 etc hands down. This keyboard is very underestimated and understated and can be had at bargain prices

id give this one a pass unless it was free then maybe give it a shot. well i got mine cheap a hundred fifty bucks. general observations. big bulky tanklike. terrible display almost cryptic. horrid soundset. some good pads to be heard here if you take the time. additive synthesis with a non resonant filter humbug i tell you. it is for sure one of the most well boring pieces of kit i have owned. i am really regreting buying it and well will most likely sell it. i shall give it another go but overall i would say this is the worst piece of gear i have ever owned. even tho its solid and well built it has the fun of being stranded on a island with a nun that used to be a man who looks like danny devitos twin sister.

IT NEVER CEASES TO AMAZE ME HOW CRITICS CAN CRITICIZE THE ULTIMATE ALESIS SYNTHESIZER,THIS KEYBOARD WAS AND STILL IS WAY BEYOND IT'S TIME.THE ONLY MEGASYNTH THAT WAS DOING LOOPS WITH DRUMS AND SOUND TIMBRES WAS THE COVETED AND BELOVED...AND STILL SOUGHT AFTER,KORG WAVESTATION...AND THAT TOO PROLIFICALLY EXCEEDED WAY BEYOND IT'S BOUNDERIES,THIS TOO WAS ONE OF THE THOSE SPECIAL FEW SYNTHES THAT APPARENTLY AND STRANGELY ENOUGH CAN BE USED IN THE EVER CHANGING MUSIC GENRE!!!WHAT A GREAT KEYBOARD.I HAVE THE ALESIS QUADRASYNTH PLUS PIANO...MAN I LOVE IT,I USE THE YAMAHA DX7IIFD,THE YAMAHA DX7S AND THE KORG WAVESTATION EX WITH THE WAVESTATION SR MODULE.I ALSO HAVE THE ALESIS S4 PLUS!!!THE ALESIS IS THE BEST THING SINCE THE 1983 YAMAHA DX7,SINCE THE 1987 ROLAND D-50 AND SINCE THE 1989 KORG M1.SOME OF THE PATCHES REMIND ME OF THE RENOUWNED KAWAI K4 WHICH WAS ANOTHER SYNTH THAT HAD TO FIGHT TO ENTER THE HALL OF FAME,IT'S GOT ALL MY LOVE TOO.THE ALESIS IS ALSO A SUPERLATIVE CONTROLLER BOARD..NONE LIKE IT.NOT EVEN TO BE COMPARED WITH THE LIKES OF THE YET ANOTHER CONTROLLER....THE KORG T3.I SWEAR BY MY ALESIS...AND YOU KORG X5D USERS OUT THERE, NOT EVEN YOU CAN HOLD GREEN LANTERN'S POWER RING TO THE INTREPID AND INVINCIBLE MIGHT AND CONTROLLING ABILITY OF THE ALESIS QUADRASYNTH PLUS...PIANO, AND IT'S LIL' SISTER..THE ALESIS S4 PLUS. EARL STAPLES IV;MASTER SYNTHESIS.

Kevin McCarthy a professional user from UK writes:
re: Quadrasynth Plus Piano. Great volume knob - different and better! Piano and electric piano are superb. Brass section sounds terrible though! Strings aren't too good either, hardly use them. Pitch / mod wheels - not great but don't use much, I suppose it's a matter of getting used to them. Drum sounds are good. User interface - not sure, I am too much into the Yamaha SY77 & EX7 systems and the Alesis screen is small. I've had mine for about 7 years and some of the buttons only work when you really press hard. I have used it a lot though, maybe it needs a service! If you want a decent piano / electric piano sound, buy this synth. Otherwise, not worth it.
