Well what can I say!! Some instruments have absolutly no value anymore. I bought my rhodes MK-80 at an auction, the highest bidder (and I kid you not) was $170.00 aus. It was passed in because the reserve was $200.00. So deal done and yes what a great sound, I use it in my sudio, althought my i2 Korg does have other usable midi features, my rhodes has the piao sounds and a lot better feel on the keys.Cheers Paul L.

I love my MK80 - purchased new in 1989 - but now have one sticky key... can someone advise on method of key removal, re-lubrication (white lithium grease?), and re-assembly? Thanks!

Found mine in s/h shop $1300 Aus plus Manual. Felt good to play, bought it. Everything worked, but eventually it started to show age by random missing notes and some became slow speaking. One night I took the entire keyboard apart,(carefully) cleaned all the contacts with metho and earbuds, vacuumed out confetti, hair clips and dry candle wax (wedding band?), reassembled and played it. It felt brand new (I kid U not.) It now has such a beautiful feel that I have hardly had to re-perform anything I midi record because its weight and feel captures my intent first time, as if gravity is acting on it (like a real piano). Pianists understand what I mean. Anyhow, Herbie Hancock used it as his main mother for years even after it became unfashionable, so it has pride of place in my studio. I use it to drive my Kurzweil Ensemble module and the sliders on the Rhodes' front access the K's internal midi seemlessly. Grab 1 if you can.

I found my MK-80 on consignment at a Piano store just after I graduated from college. I really wanted a Grand, but I didn't have space. The sounds are good, and with some tweaking -- you can emulate almost any Piano characteristics you like. The various blends of Rhodes Bells and vibraphones are equally good. BUT... the real reason I bought this keyboard was the weight and feel of the keys. It has piano weight, feel, and action. The keyboard cost me $950 in 1996 and it appears to still be worth the same. I've played a number of Digital Pianos and such since, but none has quite this type of action. I use it as a master keyboard, thought he Piano is so good, I don't mind. If you want to know what it sounds like, have a listen in the /MP3Player/ subdirectory of my website QWE.COM. (You'll have to construct the address as they aren't allowed here.)
