I found my MK-80 on consignment at a Piano store just after I graduated from college. I really wanted a Grand, but I didn't have space. The sounds are good, and with some tweaking -- you can emulate almost any Piano characteristics you like. The various blends of Rhodes Bells and vibraphones are equally good. BUT... the real reason I bought this keyboard was the weight and feel of the keys. It has piano weight, feel, and action. The keyboard cost me $950 in 1996 and it appears to still be worth the same. I've played a number of Digital Pianos and such since, but none has quite this type of action. I use it as a master keyboard, thought he Piano is so good, I don't mind. If you want to know what it sounds like, have a listen in the /MP3Player/ subdirectory of my website QWE.COM. (You'll have to construct the address as they aren't allowed here.)

The Rhodes/Roland mk-80 was an incredible board. Awesome sounds, the closest to a real rhodes you'll ever hear. The wurlitzers and clavs are also top notch. Only the acoustic piano voices were weak. very weak. As a controller it was usable. For gigs out on the road it was perfect!!! Large with a big top deck that could hold another keyboard or lots of music, modules or mixers. It's heavy but the action feels just like a yamaha grand piano so its great to play. If you can still find one its a great board to have.
