Well I been using software drum and sampling progs for a long time now. Also felt like snagging my hands on some equipment so I started out cheap. Got me a lil ol cheap 505 in an auction and I figure 2 things. Without a bad ass sub playing the sounds, and without a skilled musician behind the tool, I see why many people dog on this lil pup. But let me tell you, hook this sucker up to some real time effect processing junk with a very hard deep bass sub and this 505 can do some shit!

a funny friend come to me and tell me he got a very rare vintage analog drum machine,i guessed its a tr909 or tr808.he said its tr505.its funny i'm not saying tr505 is bad and its a big bargain today for its cheap price, but, its pcm digital drum machine, pal, not vintage analog, even limited than the tr707.basically its not good enough to be a good drum machine.

I love my 505, I just bought it 2-17-01. I paid 50 bucks for it. It has classic sound and its in its own box with battery power, how cool is that? I can bring it around with me, I love that feature. I use a Voyager 1, a beat counter that send the BPM of a audio input as a midi clock singnal. With some effects the little 505 can make nice sounds. disco house anybody? please email if you know how or where i can have it modified, also I have a pioneer djm-600 i would like to modify also. thanks!

I LOVE MY LITTLE 505. The snare drum is perfect for that electro-80's sound. But the hihats are too metallic for techno. I think this little box is just incredibly fun to play with, but using the original sounds in any music is going to get you laughed at. Does ANYONE know what that START-STOP(DP-2) jack on the back is for? Oh, and listen to INSANITY LURKS NEARBY on Front Line Assembly's "The Initial Command" album - that's a 505, isn't it? (Also suspect "Nine Times" uses the 505 as well)... This thing is not hard to program. I learned how (and I've never used any musical equipment before) in a matter of two hours.
