I own a Jupiter 8 since February 2003. It is doubthless the best analog polyphonic synth ever build.
In the dual mode (4 VCOs per voice!), it can sound like an orchester. Though it is not a sampler and it doesnt play real brass or string sounds! This is the same kind of sound you may know from the music from the film Blade Runner (played by Vangelis who used the CS80). I also heard of a guy who wanted to replace his Jupiter by an Andromeda - yet, after some comparing and testing, he decided not to get rid of the old machine...

The great analogue synth. Just about beyond compare...JX10, jp6 and a few others hang in there. Always sounds fabulous. Looks magnificent. Just thought you would like to know that there are a few clowns trying to compare it..and I can't believe this...with the Juno 106...ha,ha,ha!!! Just check out the 106 page.

The Jupiter 8 was one of those 'BIG' synths I saw on Top Of The Pops back in 81/82...I think it may have been Depeche Mode's 'See you' song.
This synth never ceases to amaze me, even with its limited modulation routings (By todays standards anyway) I keep on making really cool sounds! I just absolutely love this synth its so easy to use (All the controls are right there in front of you) and you can even store the settings!
This synth is VERY heavy (22 kgs) so make sure you stand can take the strain. Be sure to have a spair pair of speakers....as this synth shreds hehe.
Ive never had any issues apart from the battery going and losing my patches (This was a real shame >> All you need to do is back them via midi)
When you play live or use the JP8 in your music...it always sends shivers down the spine...this synth is without a doubt a classic. If you can buy one....get it as there are very few on the 2nd hand market now.
