Got mine for 600$ three moths ago. I also own the Virus and Nordlead 3. Both are fuller sounding ; let's face it, there are 5 years since Roland released the Jp. But it still sounds good and it's easy to program. Not as analogic as my 106. And I WANT THE SUB-OSC !.Even so, good bass (little muddy if you stick too much with the bass eq)

This machine is awsome. OK it´s a VA but it sounds as good as a real analog synth. The filter is a beast. The JP 8000 is perfect for oldschool techno and trance. It´s worth it´s money.

I've had mine for about three years, and am still blown away by its huge timbral range and flexibility. That ribbon is fantastic at controlling subtle or drastic nuances in a patch, and is totally customizable per patch! Soundwise it harks back to its JX & JP ancestry. Can be bright & sparkly or downright grimy. Not as strange as my MS2000 (due to its second LFO), but it has a bag of tricks uniquely its own. Spec-wise, it's trumped by just about every other VA out there...but it wins the battle of user friendliness without a doubt. Love the LOOOOOONG delay.

Yes, the JP-8000 is a keyboard that you can get some really deep, thick Dr. Dre and Snoop type basses from it and some really wormy, snakey leads as well. I don't know why I waited so long to get one. I find myself having to turn it down cause it throws my Event 20/20bas monitors into seizures from the throbbing bass and resonant leads. Good job, Roland!
