Yes, would you say someones ugly inside coz there ugly on the outside?, most things which don't appeal on the outside are better on the inside. The JX-305 highlights this by offering a standard interface with all the power and creation waiting to be explored!. Theres alot more to this synth than turning knobs!. Infact, to fully enjoy the JX-305, explore and use user menu's!. Its a great all round synth, esp suited for dance music. There are thousands of custom original sound creation programs on offer, built in to this synth. From building your very own waveform to using templates, how could 1 say this synth is boring?.

I yet to meet the day I find this synth boring, that day won't be in a while, thats for sure.

The Roland JX305 is the most overlooked & underatted synth ever, I really believe that. The problem was its name tag the GROOVESYNTH. The people out there who have little or no imagination & skill to compose good tunes will always knock an instrument that doesn't have every preset sounding great. This baby delivers more for your buck than anyother instrument ever put out there. It is truly a fabulous instrument for composing electro & all forms of dance music. You start creating your own sounds on the JX305 and you start to realize what a gem this synth is. I have owned one for 4 years and am never selling it. Even now there isn't a machine on the market that does what the JX305 will do at its second hand price, not even close. It got caught up in the Roland Groove hype, but this instrument really does the term justice. If you want a killer instrument for less than a thousand bucks to compose killer tunes, then the JX305 is as good as it gets, I recommend it 100%

The JX is a great synthesizer and makes the BEST synth for dance music. Ive heard some really cooking dance music from this beast, aswell as rock, jazz, and anything else you can think of!. Some people can work this thing really well. The only major down side to the JX-305 is the screen, which is total and utter crap, but hey a small screens better than no screen huh?. If you really work hard with this synth, and I mean REALLY work hard, you should be very impressed. But if you just use the surface and presets, your end up selling it!, they suck. Ok so you think its going out of date abit?, Roland products useually have a useable life of about 5-7 years, and this synth can be brought up to high standards with user performance.

if you are loking for a synth full of pads or strings look elsewhere but if you want to create sounds or work whit patterns or loops jx305 is heaven for the price .

I bought mine 6 months ago and is still fun and inspirational to play or compose wiht it.

ok the interface is not user friendly a lot of menus and parameters and screens to mess whit but nothing in this world is round perfect .

if you want to do any kind of electronic stuff in a keyboard under 700 the jx 305 is the way to go... nuff said

Firstly, thankyou for all your wonderful comments on my music, and I'm flattered you like my productions!. Firstly, like said in previous reviews (I am not sure if it was here), but the JX-305 is the main part of my setup, and is a wonderful addition to my studio. The JX-305 is a wonderful bit of kit, despite what nearly every review says about it. Please don't let people put you down about the JX-305, your either like it, or you won't (thats ok). Each to their own, but quite generally, I find the JX-305 a wonder to work with, esp for dance / trance music, even now!. It has a wonderful soundset which can be edited beyond belief, at least thats what I find. The JX-305 is great for sequecing and creating entire original songs. I don't use anything preset because thats just an utter waste of time, but some presets are setup as great templates with some decent sounds. Unless your serious, you won't use presets, at least I don't. They are seriously out of date now, and I undertstand thats what most people hear when they switch the synth on. The sound is awesome if you know what your doing. Technically speaking, your have to know how to make your JX shine to get results from it, and I wont lie, but your have to work hard to do this, though it is more than possible. All in all, the Roland JX-305 is a great synthesizer for producing today's music. Its really hard to tell if your get results from it or not, because every musician is different. But i'm sure than people who are looking for a great synth, for a great price will love this synth. Currnetly owning about 8 synths atthe moment, I find the JX-305 the most used of all. It is also a great controller with midi setups dedicated to knobs. The JX-305 is a great workstation and deserves full credit, because this blue box can be turned into something amazing if used properly. The only con, is its not made anymore, and it says "groovesynth", Which I think will put most people off (thats ok). But to tell you the HONEST truth, I am more than happy with my JX-305 (even now) after owning it for 3 years, I plan to use it for the next 5, and my ideas will never run out. I will be bringing out a new album soon with dedicated trance, again newer than before, with new tracks etc. This time, my music will be like something you have never heard before. I shall request a linkage to my download site on this page later on!

Its not fair on the admin of this site and does not help other people to find out about the JX-305 in a helpfull way. This review is purely from a professional sensible way, and Ive said enough.
