The mks-80 does sound great but without the MPG-80 it is not real cool. I had a used mks-80 which I sold and also sold my Jp-8 and got a JP-6 which I think blows them all away.

definitely the analog dreams w/ the midi benefits.i bought mine for only $200 even w/ a mpg80!!!the guy just thought it didn't work w/ the mpg80(he plugged the control cable to midi port.idiot)fat bass, deep pad, smooth strings,w/ the programmer i have more fun to tweak on the fly.someone said it cannot beat the original jp8,i don't think so.i also owned a jp8 but the bass on mks80 is fatter and punchy than that in jp8 even in unison mode.the top midi analog module from roland.

Ron Vallery a professional user from US writes:
Bought mine 3 years ago at a local music dealer and I love it. it is the best poly analog synthesizer module ever . Mine is the older version with the MPG-80 and it is capable of blowing up any speaker system with the bass respons and killer VCF self oscilating res.

nothing sounds like it.

if you find it in a good condition - grab it with all your might !

they are becoming very rare.

Just a tip on buying these.

Models with serial numbers 511800 and above contain Roland custom chips, which are as rare as rocking horse shit. So it will be difficult to source spare parts for these.
