stage piano bought new and used occasionally over the years. good sounds, complete midi, and will layer. very realistic piano weighted feel, and is a true pro instrument that was 2000 plus when new. heavy.

The Roland RD-500 is a rock solid piano/controller with 10 variations each on the following-10 organs, 10 grand pianos, 10 electric pianos, 10 clavinet/harpsichords, 10 synth settings, 10 strings, the standard percussion settings, it has 4 banks for storing your own patches. the layered sounds are lush, the built in effects are nice. 88 weighted keys with real hammer action (it's a litlle HEAVY)

some people say the keys break on the road but these guys must be doin' little richard impressions/ i've had it for 5 years and not a key busted yet---it's supposedly easily fixed by replacing the flet strip every now and then.

the piano sounds (especially at the bass) are more realistic that real. you need a powerful amp to get the best sound as with all non-acoustic instruments (duh) the nicer amplification, speakers the better sound (another duh)

roland doesn't make trash, you will NOT be disappointed unless you are anal about a certain B3 organ sound but you can run this thing through a leslie and it sings pretty well.
