I got one of these a few years back from a guy for only UK £50, strings are nice, the rest of the sound was garbage like the organ. Stick them thru a smallstone phaser, lovely.

I'm a composer/musician from the Lowlands and now using digital stuff. But I ran into this thing via Prepal, where the Going Price is $ 450 !?!?! I bought a RS-09 new, somewhere in 1981 I think. Not yet at this price as far as I know! But 1981 should at least be about the year of birth of the RS-09. I think back with very much kindness playing and using this instrument in a new-wave band. Of course it is not comparable with modern synths, but it was really something handier and with better sounds than a contemporary Solina String Ensemble (where is that thing gone?). I can only judge by memory, but it's worth a 5 when you're looking for an early 80's sound!

very,very warm,lush strings and organ sounds.pass it thru an analog phaser and you're into strings heaven!it,also,has an ext.input for the onboard chorus!it is excellent for 100 euros...

I am a big fan of the strings on this on. Forget the boring organ sound and use those amazing strings - now i just need the Sh-09...

Only cost me $100 on ebay, and it was worth every penny. For a synth this old, it still is holding up very well. The polyphony on the strings can be a bit weird, but on the organ, it's perfect. Mixing the two gives a really fat, synth-string sort of sound. For as cheap as they are right now, it definitely couldn't hurt to add a really original synth such as this to your collection.
