Honestly, I agree with Martin. This board is a piece of junk. Bought one and soon GAVE it away. I'm not the best nor do I claim to be a good musician but I do understand a little about keyboards, especially Rolands. This is by far the worst that I've ever heard or played. I normally judge a decent keyboard by the piano sound and one even with tweaking sounds like a "tin can". I even hook a module to it and you could still hear that tin can sound. I'm a Roland user for life but this one really sucks. Not please with this Roland on this one, but sticking with you. Go XP10. That's the piano sound to imitate

if it's going to be your first synth - you want regret it. of course you can compare it to other (more expensive) synthies, but in its budget class it's the best one.

overall i think that the RS 5 is a great sounding Synth but i don't think it comes close to other Synths on the market. the piano sounds aren't all that great but the brass and effects are fantastic. i wouldn't recommend this keyboard to professionals, but it is kind of good for part time muso's or people who fancy it for a hobby.

i am a semi - professional keyboardist and i feel that it isn't the best synth out on the market but pretty decent. the piano sounds aren't all that fantastic but the brass and the guitars and effects are terrific. i wouldn't recommend the RS 5 to a proffesional.

I bought this synth at a bargain 200 pounds, at first I thought what have I done, but when I got into the sounds it produces I thought it was fantastic, it has no old age analogue sounds which is dissapointing, very modern if anything, but you can still do a lot with it
